Born in Bury, Lancashire (as it was then) and growing up in the Greater Manchester area, I attended Bury Grammar School before commencing my career in Architecture.
Starting in September 1968 I worked as an office junior for Bradley, Cuthbert & Towell, architects based in Bolton and later on as architectural assistant for John Lever Architect in Leigh. I also attended the Technicians in Architecture course at the Manchester College of Building.
I attained an an ONC pass in 1971 and an HNC level pass of the college course in summer 1973.
Since that time have worked in the South West in architect’s practices, for a local authority, and in my own practice.
